Before traveling back to Qatar, I had some questions on my mind and personal concerns about our upcoming travel. I also received questions from friends/fellow parents who are curious regarding traveling in business class with an infant (babies below 2yrs old) in a Qatar Airways flight. Just a quick background, we’re currently residing in Qatar for years now.
Some of the questions were:
If you arrived on my site having the same questions and would like to find answers, good news! I have them for you!
So let me just share our experience on our previous long-haul flight from Manila to Doha.
Flying from Doha to Manila, we were in an Economy flight. Everything went well on that flight. It departed at midnight and we arrived in the afternoon in Manila.
For the return, we decided to purchase an upgrade since there was a promotion where you will just had to pay an additional amount to be in business class so, we grabbed that opportunity. For me and Maïa to experience flying in business together and well.. because you know… 💁🏻♀️ it’s always nice to fly in Business. 😎 You have the space, the service is always great and the level of comfort that you can have.
So, is there a fee? How much?
YES. There is a fee for infants in Business class.
For our ticket, it was about 15% of the adult fare. Im not sure if it changes since adult fares usually does and we all know that ticket prices changes depending on the season.
Where did they install the bassinet?
This is my number one question weeks before flying.. I’ve looked on the internet to find answers and I also asked my FA friends regarding this ‘coz l’m really curious. I already flew on Business class before and I haven’t been on one that other passengers had an infant with them. I just know that on economy flights they have seats in front of every cabin and they install the bassinet by the wall.
In business, they still have dedicated seats for passengers with infants, usually at the back of the cabin and they install the bassinet on top of the side table (Qsuite). They have a special system that allows the bassinet be safely attached into it.
Well, my baby really didn’t stayed there for long as she is currently on the stage where she wants to be on her knees, roll and stand up. And we were on a morning flight so yes, she was awake most of the time. 😅

Isn’t it disturbing for the other passengers in the Business cabin?
NO. As far as I know, we didn’t disturbed any other passengers during our flight. I was really nervous since usually, we’re flying during night time when Maïa sleeps and it’s gonna be my first time to take a morning flight with her. I was afraid that she’s gonna be up and be bored.
But, I’m really thankful that she’s a baby that is really easy to travel with. ❤️ And business class has a working noise-cancellation headsets that is really effective. 😅 So, if ever she was crying, other passengers can surely just put their headsets on and never hear her again. HAHA just kidding ✌🏽.

I also brought toys, books and a laptop that has Maïa’s favorite videos of Miss Rachel to keep her entertained during her wake times.

Did they gave me the “looks” when they saw that I was with a baby?
𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱. I don’t know. When we were still in the lounge, I made sure to take a peek on my fellow passengers to see if they’re looking but, not really. Also in the cabin.. I observed when we settled but in QSuite, everyone has their own “doors” so, I guess most of them didn’t really care.
I just know that I am also a passenger and we paid to be in business class to have the space and their service. 🥰
How’s the Overall Experience?
𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧! For fellow parents, if you have the opportunity to be in business class specially in a long-haul flight, GRAB IT!
You have the extra needed space and privacy that we always wish to have in a flight since it can really get messy and unorganized when you’re traveling with a baby.

I loved the fact that other passengers can’t see the disaster that’s currently going on just to keep a baby settled and not cry in a flight 😅 hahaha!
If you’re worried about other passengers, don’t.
As I’ve said, you’re also another paying passenger that deserves to be there.. so why worry? Flight attendants of Qatar Airways were all nice enough to assist you and even look for your baby when you need to go to the comfort room. You will also have the extra weight for your carry-on luggage to bring every possible entertainment for your little one.

And even if your baby doesn’t want to sleep/stay on the bassinet, QSuite has the space enough for you and your baby. I loved that the chair is fully reclinable and lays flat, converted to a bed. Maïa who is currently 7months sometimes stands and be on her knees, crawl a bit when she’s already tired of being carried/laying down.

So, if you’re still wondering and hesitating, don’t worry! Just go on and be on that business class seat Mama & Papa!
