Celebration of Cultures 🌏 Through My Daughter’s Eyes

, , , ,

Two weeks ago, my daughter’s school held its United Nations Day celebration and it was the kind of event that, as a mother, fills my heart with both pride and joy.

My daughter respresented Greece 🇬🇷 — not because it was planned, but because it was the only costume I could find on Shopee in her size! (Mom life, right? 😂)

Seeing her walk and twirl around in that white-and-gold dress made my heart smile. When she catched her reflection in the mirror, she looked so happy and proud! She’s always loved wearing dresses, so I guess she really felt good in that one. 👗💛

When all the kids arrived , they had a short parade outside the school, at the nearby park. They waved their flags, smiled for pictures and showed off their costumes like tiny ambassadors of joy. Parents and nannies stood by with cameras, trying to capture every moment — because as moms, we know these are the “firsts” that matter. ☺️

After that, they had their activities. Each classroom was transformed to different parts of the world. Their room was themed South America, filled with some bright decorations. The kids painted a cacti and they even had a small food-tasting corner: nachos and salsa! The other rooms were just as lively: Africa with its famous wild animals; Antarctica with their polar bears and penguins plushies, snowflakes decorations and “pretend” snow; and one that is Asian themed with sushi-making corner and a huge elephant display. 🐘🍱

Honestly? I don’t think she cared which country she was representing. She just loved being part of all of it!

Then what’s a celebration without a feast??Parents brought food from different countries and it turned into a full-on buffet! There were Filipino favorites, then European snacks and pastries, Korean food and even some homemade treats that tasted like love. 💗

One of my favorite moments? Watching my toddler enjoy her ube puto for the first time! 💜

That day was definitely what I’d call a “cheat day.” 😂 Chips, sweets and snacks everywhere! wooo~ 🥳 but honestly, I didn’t mind at all!

It’s the simple joys, like a small treat, messy hands and that big smile that makes these moments unforgettable. 🥰

🌏 Here’s what that day reminded me:

Diversity doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be celebrated.

Kids learn best when they experience the world, not just read about it.

It’s okay if things aren’t perfect (even the costume!). What matters is the joy they feel.

The world feels smaller and friendlier when we celebrate it together.

That day wasn’t just a school event.

It was a beautiful reminder that my daughter; with her mix of cultures, languages and the sweetest little heart — is growing up in a world where connection matters more than borders. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼🫶🏼

And as her mom, I am really-really lucky and grateful that I get to witness her discover it all — one tiny celebration at a time. ❤️
