Pregnancy, Motherhood and The Village

Looking back on my pregnancy and those early days of motherhood, I can still remember how everything changed. Life felt softer but heavier, fuller yet uncertain.

There was joy and wonder.. but, also moments of quiet fear, loneliness and surrender. Nothing quite prepares you for how deeply motherhood transforms your heart and your whole being.

They say “it takes a village to raise a child.”

What I’ve learned is that sometimes, that village isn’t something you already have.. it’s something you build. Slowly. Naturally. Through the people who make you feel seen, supported and understood.

And in that village, there’s also the person who stood beside me through it all: my husband. ❤️ The one who saw the unfiltered, unsteady parts of me; who stayed patient when I wasn’t; who carried the weight with me even when neither of us had the answers.

Parenthood changed us both, sometimes in ways we didn’t expect but, it also reminded me that a village begins right where love does: at home. 🏠

Motherhood has a way of revealing what truly matters. Some people will stay, some will drift away.. and both are okay. There’s no resentment in that, only understanding. We all grow in different directions and sometimes.. that means our paths no longer align the same way.

Over time, I realized that building a village isn’t about collecting people.. it’s about nurturing connections that feel safe and real. It’s about the friends who remind you that you’re doing your best, the ones who make space for your messy days and the ones who quietly cheer for you even when life gets busy.

And I’ve also learned that I won’t always be part of everyone’s village.. and I’ve made peace with that.

We all have our own safe spaces, our own circles of comfort and that’s something to respect. Motherhood really taught me to lessen  expectations and just be grateful for the ones who shows up.

Because in the end, motherhood isn’t just about raising a child — it’s about you: growing, too. Learning who you are, what you need and who you can lean on.

Sometimes, your village isn’t made of blood.. it’s made of hearts that choose to stay, to listen and to love you through every season. ❤️
